"I've always liked making things look right. Not flashy, not over the top, just right. A website should do its job properly. It should look like it belongs to the business it represents, and it shouldn't make people work hard to find what they need."
For a long time, I watched the same problem play out over and over. Small businesses with brilliant products and genuinely good people behind them were being let down by their websites. Templates that looked identical to a hundred other sites in the same industry. Pages that took an age to load on a phone. Designs that gave away nothing about the personality or character of the business they were supposed to represent. It frustrated me, because I knew it didn't have to be that way, and I knew I could do something about it. That's the gap Joe Lewis | Studio is here to fill.
I'm an independent website designer and Wix Partner based in Somerset, and I work with one business at a time rather than juggling a long list of accounts. That matters more than people realise. When you're not one of fifty clients competing for attention, you get someone who's thought about your business, your customers, and what you need your website to achieve. You get someone who answers the phone and replies to your emails.
What's a Wix Partner? It's a fair question, and not something most people will know off the top of their head. A Wix Partner is someone who's been recognised by Wix as having genuine experience and skill in building professional websites on their platform. It's not a title you get for signing up, it's something you build through delivering good work over time. Practically, it means you're getting someone who knows the platform properly rather than someone learning as they go on your project. It also means access to features, support, and tools that aren't available to a standard Wix account, which I can put to good use when building or running your site.
I bring more to this than just design skill, though. Before Joe Lewis Studio, I spent 13 years in a business management role, where I was responsible for the day to day running of a business, the decisions that kept it moving forward, and the kind of practical, commercial thinking that doesn't show up in a portfolio but shapes how I work. I know what it's like to run a business, to worry about cash flow, customers, and getting the basics right. That experience means I'm not just building you a nice looking page; I'm thinking about what your website needs to do for your business, because I've been on the other side of that conversation myself.
Every site I build starts from scratch, shaped around what your business does and who it's trying to reach. Whether that's a tradesperson who wants more enquiries, a shop that wants people to trust them before they've even walked through the door, or a service business that just wants a website that doesn't embarrass them, the goal is the same. Build something that works properly, looks the part, and gives your customers the confidence to choose you.
I'd genuinely like to hear about what you're building and how I might be able to help.
